What I Wore at Disney

In honor of my last Disney vlog (hopefully) being uploaded this week, I thought I would end my Disney content for this summer with a post about what I wore on my Disney World vacation! One of my favorite parts of a Disney vacation is packing for Disney and figuring out what I will wear every day (my sister and I filmed a whole video about it!). 

However, this summer I had the challenge of going to Disney during one of the hottest times of the year. Therefore, I had to figure out how to dress cute and Disney themed while ensuring that I wouldn't absolutely melt because of the heat. 

What I wore can be sorted into a few categories: Disney dresses, Disney t-shirts, and character themed outfits. Now, I could definitely just wear a different Disney t-shirt every day, but I like to change it up to make it more fun! 

Disney Dresses

I absolutely love Disney themed dresses with prints of Disney characters. My sister, Hannah, has a whole collection and I have a fair few myself. (I even wore my Beauty and the Beast one to see the live action film!) My favorite place to buy them is Hot Topic because they have a wide variety and aren't too pricey. 

My favorite movie when I was a little girl was The Aristocats so I couldn't resist this Marie dress and bow! 

Disney T-Shirts

I love Disney t-shirts and have a fairly impressive collection. My friends even have a running joke about how many Star Wars t-shirts I have. This trip, I was so excited to wear my Millennial Falcon shirt in Hollywood Studios (Kylo Ren even commented on it!) and my new Moana shirt to the Magic Kingdom. Yes, I always theme my outfit to the park I'm going to. My favorite places to buy Disney t-shirts are actually Target and the Disney Store, but you can find them lots of places. 

Character Themed Outfits 

If you're an avid Disney fan, you may be aware of "Disney-bounding": dressing up as a Disney character in a subtle way. There are whole Instagram accounts and blogs dedicated to the phenomenon. My biggest tip is to try to meet the character you're dressed as while you're there if you can. I loved taking photos in the Norway pavilion in Epcot in my Princess Anna outfit and when I met her, she even pointed out that we were dressed alike!

The Line Where the Sky Meets the Sea

I've been at the beach all week, so naturally I can't singing Moana music and I couldn't resist the title of this post. My parents recently bought a beach condo so I've been spending my days at the North Carolina coast doing job applications on the balcony for the most part.

The other day my mom took my little sister and I down to the beach to do some photos. I couldn't resist putting on my favorite shirt of the summer, along with my trusty Madewell jeans. This white eyelet shirt is gorgeously structured and the eyelet design is beautiful but somehow doesn't show your bra. I love it because it can be paired with jeans for a casual look or with dress pants for a more business occasion.

Unfortunately the shirt is now sold out, but the jeans are still available.

Review: Intermission Beauty

When I saw a Broadway themed line of beauty products on Laura Osnes's Insta-story one night, I was immediately intrigued. Imagine my delight when I logged onto their website and saw that they had one named after my very favorite show, Miss Saigon! 

They have lines of both lipsticks and matte liquid lipsticks (the 'Breaking Down' lipstick is especially popular, probably due to Stephanie J. Block's love for it). If there's anything I adore, it's a matte liquid lipstick and everything about this one is magnificent.

The packaging is wonderful as well, as it comes in a cute little box wrapped in red tissue paper in the parcel. I'm quite impressed with the branding.

As for the Miss Saigon lipstick, I'm absolutely in love. I've worn it twice since it arrived in the mail and both times it stayed on for many hours despite eating. The color is really a beautiful pink, more vibrant than it would typically wear but quite lovely. The texture wasn't sticky and it dried quickly after application. The heat is on, indeed!

I can't recommend these lipsticks enough. While they're a little pricey at $20, they're no worse than your typical liquid lipstick of this quality; they're comparable in price and quality to Smashbox ($24 each) and Kat Von D ($20). They're a great little indulgence for yourself or would be an amazing gift for a friend.

Hollister Wish List

It's no surprise that I am obsessed with Hollister, which has certainly changed since my middle school days when it was all low-rise denim and brand name t-shirts. I'm absolutely in love with their new collection for spring and summer and wanted to share some of my faves pieces with you all!

I love this black "Icon Popover" shirt, which would look great tucked into jean shorts or a colorful skirt.

Florals for spring? Groundbreaking, I know, but this romper is absolutely lovely and comes in three different floral prints.

Lately, I have been loving long skirts and the button front is so popular.

This smocked off the shoulder romper is so unique; I actually haven't seen anything like it!

I love this peplum cami, which would pair nicely with jeans now and shorts later in the hot weather.

My New Favorite Foundation

I recently picked up the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation because I had seen Zoe Sugg, Hannah Michelak, and Josie of Fashion Mumblr mention it in their YouTube videos and I wanted to give it a try. I struggle with foundation as I have very pale oily skin so both color matching and the wear of a foundation can be issues.

This Rimmel foundation, however, has both a wide array of shades (particularly for a drug store foundation) and incredible long-lasting power. I use the shade Ivory (110) and it works perfectly. While my nose will get a bit streaky over the course of the da y, I find that this foundation lasts better than my high-street ones.

I also love that this foundation has SPF 20 in it and has a surprisingly lovely smell. It's also an incredibly good bargain as I bought it for under $5 at Walmart. My only complaint about it would be that it comes without a pump which can be annoying especially as you get towards the end of the bottle.

I highly recommend this foundation if you're looking for something new, inexpensive, and with good coverage.

Gagged Chokers Introduces a Princess Collection!

Chokers are incredibly on trend right now and my favorite place to buy them is Gagged Chokers. This small business was started by Courtney Reed, who plays Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, and sells beautiful handmade chokers.

Not only are their chokers incredibly well crafted, but they also have some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. Their collections are unique and exclusive: most of the time, once something is sold out, it's gone for good. I filmed a video with my friend Lexi all about them, which I will put at the end of this post.

Last week, they released their Princess Collection of chokers, each inspired by a different Disney princess. They've been so popular, they're already having to restock them. One of my favorite things about them is that they're modeled by different Broadway actresses! I personally have ordered Blondie (as Rapunzel is my favorite princess), but my other favorites include Muse and Wayfinder. Which ones are your faves?

Saturday in the Park with MC and Kendal

Anyone get the reference in the post title? If so, major kudos to you. Last weekend, my roommates Kendal and MaryClaire and I decided to go to Washington Square Park and have a mini photoshoot for our blogs. One thing that I appreciate about New York is that it seems like no matter where you are, you're always close to a park!

Lately, I've been absolutely in love with button-downs and tie-up flats. So I liked that this outfit incorporated both of them! Lately, my weekend outfits have been a lot of casual shorts paired with my work shirts, because I didn't have the room to bring a ton of casual shirts to New York.

Workwear Haul

This past week has been spent shopping for clothes for my internship, so I wanted to share what I found with you. Everything in the haul came from H&M, Loft, Target, and Charming Charlie, which proves that it is possible to find nice work clothing on a budget! x

THROWBACK! London Vlog

I found this little vlog from July 2014 while going through my files recently. It's from when Stefanie and I spent a week in London after our time at the University of Sussex. Remember that? We try on crazy outfits at Topshop, get Carrie Hope Fletcher to say hi, and dance around to our favorite song...and now you can finally watch!

(And yes, it was filmed on my iPhone. Filming is terrible, editing is terrible, but the content is A+.)

Hamilton Inspired Outfits

Lately, I've definitely been channeling the Schuyler Sisters into my outfits so I wanted to share some inspiration for how to incorporate our favorite Hamilton girls into your wardrobes. Let me know if you like this type of posts...and if you'd like to see one for our favorite revolutionaries!

"Schuyler Sisters" was the inspiration behind this outfit as it's cool but effortless. The New York t-shirt (H&M, $12.99) pays homage to the city that the Schuyler sisters love, while the grey ripped jeans (Topshop, $75) are a nod to their independence and rebellion. The leather Vans slip-ons (Nordstroms, $59.95) are comfortable but a bit edgy looking and the tote bag (Steve Madden, $98) could definitely hold a copy of Common Sense. I topped it off with one of Viscountess's bows (Viscountess on StoreEnvy, $21.95) as a fairly obvious reference to Angelica's copper colored costumes.

This more formal outfit was inspired by Eliza's beautifully sweet love song, "Helpless." I paired an adorable blue dress (ASOS, $51) with sky-high-- see what I did there?-- heels (Forever 21, $89) and a classy bucket bag (Zara, $49). To channel Eliza, I wanted a look that was girly and sweet, but still strong...just like her!

you will never be satisfied" 

I wanted to put together an office appropriate outfit based on "Satisfied." Part of what I love about Angelica is her intelligence and her determination...qualities everyone wants to bring to the work place! I stuck to a sophisticated palate of black and white with a printed skirt (Zara, $49), tie blouse (H&M, $29.99), and black blazer (Topshop, $95). I accessorized with a structured bag (Kate Spade, $298) as a nod to Angelica's rational side and black booties (Madewell, $179.50 on sale).

Brighton Vibes

You can tell that I was thinking of Brighton when I got dressed last Tuesday. I spent the summer after my first year of university at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. It's a magnificent seaside town full of cute shops and restaurants and I definitely reflected its personality in my light denim and navy and white stripes.

A Week in Review: Mirror Selfies

While I'll hopefully have some nice fashion posts for you in the near future, I wanted to go ahead and share with you some mirror selfies I took of my outfits last week. The transition from summer to fall is always difficult in North Carolina because you never know what the temperature is going to be. Hence, layering is key! (Can you tell I'm moving into my winter all-black color palette?)

Monday: Trying Out a Turtleneck 

I used to avoid turtlenecks and midi skirts like the plague, but I decided to give these a try...and fell absolutely in love. I did laundry this weekend partially just so that I could wear this sweater again this week. 

Tuesday: All in Black 

On Tuesday, I wanted to be comfy while still looking put together, so I wore my Topshop black ripped jeans, a cropped black sweater, and black slip-ons. I'm obsessed with all black outfits paired with red lipstick. 

Wednesday: Channeling Tanya Burr

I'd be lying if I denied that I bought this Topshop jean skirt partially just because Tanya Burr has it. I paired it with black booties and a striped top and felt very Tanya-esque. 

Thursday: Capes and Burgundy Lips 

Thursday was quite cold so I wore my new Topshop ripped jeans with a black cropped button-down and my grey and black cape. I paired it with my new Topshop dark berry lipstick. I don't typically like dark lipsticks on me, but I'm in love with this one.

Friday: Oklahoma! Inspired?

 On Friday, I went to see my university's fall show, Oklahoma!, and it seems that it may have translated into my outfit (although this isn't what I wore to the show). I paired a cropped button-down with my denim shorts and the ever trusty black booties. I think that I will miss these shorts once the weather actually decides to stay cold enough that shorts are out of the question.

Madewell Lust List

Madewell recently released their fall collection and I am absolutely in love. Fall clothes are by far my favorite and Madewell's collection has exactly the vibe that I love for autumn: muted colors, lovely soft materials, and unique (high-waisted) pants. Here's what I would buy if I had a spare $1,000...what are you loving lately?

City Grid Coat in Colorblock, $298

Is this coat not gorgeous? From the beautiful color ("midnight spruce") to the unique zipper, it has everything I look for in a fall and winter coat. 

The Elin Loafer, $158 

I've never particularly been a fan of loafers, but these shoes completely changed my mind. They would look so beautiful paired with jeans or printed pants. 

Asymmetrical Mini Skirt in Pinstripe, $88

The asymmetrical trend is clearly still around this fall and this skirt's pattern is absolutely gorgeous. How pretty would this be paired with a cropped black sweater and ankle boots? 

Floral Lace Shift Dress, $168

I love lace dresses and this one in maroon is absolutely stunning. I might be a bit biased because maroon is my favorite color and my school color, though. I love lace dresses in dark colors because it toughens up the material a bit.

Out of everything on the list, these jeans are the item I will most likely actually purchase. Just when I thought I couldn't love Madewell's high-waisted skinny jeans any more, they made them in this plaid pattern. #saygoodbyetomymoney

Like I said, I adore Madewell's high-waisted jeans and these lightly destroyed ones are beautiful. I think that ripped jeans are such a great fall look especially when paired with more feminine pieces.
